A Hot July Weekend

So, it's the middle of summer already, anniversaries coming up, and changes all across the side of life. But with this one day of getting some time to reflect, it's the timing of actually having a day out again. Which, as much as the heatwave weekend was there, it was the right time to go, in my mind.

The Morning of

So, when it comes to it, it was an early-ish wakeup from the heat, the watch buzzing, and well, realising that the heat was getting to a lot of people, and even sleeping for me has been sticky, which is rare. But it was time to shave and make the choice of where to go. Checking the times on apps and the trip to Cornwall was hit and miss, with some delays. But in the end, I made it across and decided on Exmouth, this was after shaving and making the time to backup the phone for more footage as well. On the way, I managed to pick up some salad and bagels, which were part of my breakfast (well, not all of the bagels, as they were too hot to eat).

The Bagels and Salad

Then it was the rush for the train, which I actually got the time of 5 minutes before and tucked into one of the bagels, which then was the panic purchase of the train order, which was nice. But in the end, the conductor saw and ended up choosing the place, and Exmouth was spoken the mouth. I spent £9.75 on the journey.  The train was on its way, and it was nice to finally crack down and type up an email I had to sort out for work.

The Selfie on the Train

Then it was the case of getting to Plymouth, which was not worrying about rushing at St Budeaux to get the next train for Cornwall. So instead, it was a plan to then cross the platform to go to the next stage of getting to Exeter. Which there was 2 options for this, I thought of at the time. The 11:15 train was ready to go.

The selfie waiting for the train

The train was off.

Then, it was 2 options for me to choose from to get to Exmouth.

  • Get off at Newton Abbot, wait and take the train to Exmouth that way
  • Stay on the train to Exeter and then rush to change if the train is not late

So I chose the latter option, and actually, the falling of this trap of the train now on my 3rd time. But that is life when stuck in totnes for +4 minutes longer.

Passing Dawlish

As the journey ventured

It was getting to Exeter and I realised I missed the train, so I got my way up the stairs, and some nice lady wanted me to help her carry the case up the stairs, and it reminded me of what I wanted to do. But then it was waiting on platform one for a SWR train to Exeter Central, which was getting packed, especially since it was off to Waterloo, which will be a one-day thing to do for a weekend away using https://secretfare.seatfrog.com/

Getting off at St Davids

But then it was waiting a short time, and I got off at Exeter Central. The breeze was much cooler when I got there.

The platform at Central

The wait at Central,

When it comes to it, it was actually time to explore the other footbridge, which I didn't know connected to the bridge right behind it, and it's a closer entrance to John Lewis, so I might use that way next time when exploring.

The Footbridge looking towards the station

After this, it was the case in point of just killing the killing, waiting for the train and sure enough, 2 trains later, it turned up and was heaving and packed. So I made my way there and it was actually quick to get the Exmouth, like 25 minutes at the most since by just going at 13:22 I was there.

Overlooking the Estuary by the train

So we get to Exmouth.

Then it was I who was wondering about, and then it was close to these gardens, and there was a festive and it was hard to find out where things were going for the entrance and if it was free, and passing the wrong junctions. So I ended up walking to the town centre. It was much nicer, and even with banks closing, it felt nicer than others.

Then I made my way back to the seafront, which actually was to enter the festival, since it was not an admission tent, but a tent to search bags, the chap was really impressed with the uv bag which was fine and then it was to explore, the fact tery hae to have a weven like that is actually shocking, up that way now.

Stalls and charity banners

After this, it was time to explore it and various stalls to even if you sign a climate change pledge, you get a free plan, which was fine, though it was like "oh you can make your own or choose some from the list". I passed on and made my way to the seafront. Which for me was not too bad, now I was more a few right angles and then onwards, sometimes the maps do make it confusing the best of times. So then it was time to dip my feet in at the beach and let the sand and sea water air things about which, actually, it was nice.

The Shanty on a Postbox

The Ferry interesting idea.

So while checking maps, i noticed that the ferry to starcross from Exmouth was about which the time for that was 14:40 to leave Exmouth, so I pondered then walked to pace to run to get the boat and it was a few minutes there left before departure, i paid £6 then it was time to get on the ferry and cross the mouth of the Ex estuary, it was nice though I lost a good seat from the pondering so that's on my neck being painful after it all.

Then it finally got off around 3pm, with Starcross being that calm part to look at, and trains passing, especially as the footbridge ended up going right by the station.

Then it was the time to choose to wait for a train or to run it to Dawlish Warren, but it said on Google Maps 52 minutes, which seems a lot, but then following the Cycle path, it ended up taking me 20 minutes, which was immense, and I even managed to catch up to the other train, which for me I manage to get

Memories on the wall

So it was then to get to explore Dawlish Warren, which I've not done for years, and it felt nice to go to the amusements. It was that heavenly smell of fish and chips and even slush refills for £2.50 (Cheap slush) and it was nice to walk by with the dunes near and the haze of the sun going in, which made it feel a bit more cooler and more lie the end of the day, so it was then time to think. But the amusements were fun with free 2 pennies coming up to a coin in.  Then I walked out and decided to decide and ponder, which time let me so I walked my way to Dawlish, on the sea wall of legend. So, making my way on the path, passing Redrock and then to the beach.

Then it was to go into the ocean one more time and it was that refreshing part, the colour was more redrock feeling but still was good on that regard to it, which then I walked by way back up to the path, since I had a Cameo to film on economic hypcrosy ehich stems from the days of lockdown 2 in November 2020 from my best memory. Then it was actually nearing 16:35 and passing the footbridge further up from the station, where I had to get a move on, even with Bell DM's me for just eating when she and her mate only woke up for breakfast about 10 minutes ago, really.

Then it was to getr on the train, since I could see it from the Redrock as I realised I had to approach it from the underpass to get into Dawlish and across the footbridge, which lucmily httere was time to get in, which the antic on the train followed next as I got on the train to Plymouth that was 16:43.

The new footbridge as the train left on the other side

AS I got on the train at Dawlish, it was finding a carriage, so in the end, I m nagged to find a seat and tghat was a table to myself, which was lucky and most of the coach K or C was green lights on it, so it made my life a calmer sweat for that side of things. But there was this girl that I saw opposite me (not on the table, but a seat behind) which had a familiar look to someone I was chatting with on Feebs and Wahstapp, like, ok sure it was also a TikTok influencer from he looks of it, but with the same shaper, blonde hair and blue eyes. But she didn't really smile too much at me, minus one, but it was soon after a speech in which many religious terms were heard, and it caught a few of the eye. Luckily you get to hear it which made some chuck, one other person oppotsite the aisle was not impressed at all to be fair most of the others chuckled, it lead to antics with the locking in the toilet for one of thje priests inside, and that girl familiar was given a larger or a thacthers ciders and she went for the cider in the end.

The Speech

Train times and a water bottle

After this, it was relatively calm and chuckling over the stag do drunken banter coming across which for me was a good evening. Since then, it came to the other part of getting off at Plymouth, which for me was lickily since the Train was right across the platform. So I got off and went to the toilet, which still had about 4 minutes free after that, so a gentle stroll to the train and then resting myself before it was going to leave.

The chin selfie

Then it was the case of a nice journey back, the train did leave like 10 minutes late since usually it lets the other train I just stepped off togoo but that could not go. It turns out a combine harvester near Dobwalls caused a bit of a blaze, and then it was time it left, and I the typing this quite calmly, like it felt nice to get the second to last train since the next day would be me getting the last train home.

And that vlog would then end with a nice light tea and also the time to rush a cameo through, since during the vlog I had to do that cameo, which was less than 24 hours' time and a nice way to go for a filling salad bits at the end with salmon too.  Before the cameo was sorted, while in the bath, and I was tired by about 11pm.

Monday

So I woke up to a torrential amount of rain to hear, at like 5:30am, it was horrendous, especially on TODAY of all days, I had to go to Ivybridge to see one of my customers, which was LONG overdue, but there we are. After another fap over a closeness, it was time to get up and go by 9:45am, which by the time I was changing, the rain POURED it down and was annoying, so my jacket had to put on for it. But then I left, and it was nice with the wind, but the sweat was still there, so it was heavy for sure. AS I then sorted out the passing of the horn of plenty, the chain had to slip, just on the near hill too, like FUCK. So it was for me to try to fix that, and in time I did, which put me even more behind than I wanted to be.

Eventually it goes to the point of the main visit and then by 1:30 the bike mount was ready and it was a long way to get the bike way to get to Ivybridge, wwherethe rain was about to hold off for part it. From going on the back roads passing the golf club to then going on the back roads to Walkhampton. The clouds where staritng to get busy behind but it was then getting to Dousland by the time the rain was staritng.

Then it was clearing up, but it was that hills going down, then a steep one going up wcg for tgngs which, was actually quite intense for me, and then it was a flat space before finally getting to Cadover bridge, especially since he clouds were coming over like it was a storm, which, for me was the case of the chance to pay £1.50 for a can of Vimto to then cool down before it was another mix of hills and lanes to a client.

The Can of Vimto for £1.50

The clouds are clear

The dark clouds across the moors

The leaving was nice and not as many hills, the downwards was nice and Lee moor, does have more of a flat surface to the road; But then it was the case of more small lanes and eventually I got there, which was nice and the wind was getting there, but the clear sky was coming out nicer with it all. Eventually, I finished at 6:30 pm and cycled my way to Ivybridge, which was actually just as nice a small lane to go down before turning left to go to the station, which was on a Cycle path to it, which was easier.  I got thewrwe and it turned out it be a half-hour wait until the train, and also with the time missing the 6pm one, it was then to go and make sure I get some time but not too much time to kill before the 9:30pm train home. So I decided to cycle to Plym.

The station in the Evening sun

The Evening cycle,

So moments like this, it felt like my childhood with cycling to Okehampton or Meldon, then back to Sourton when I was younger. But this was clear sky and from what Google maps told me, mostly off-road to get back to the bank for the next stage of paying money into (finally, since the chaos of November last year). But the route took me past the A38, literally right next to it, then across it again and in the clear blue sky, it felt really peaceful (minus the cars speeding across)

The look across the Dual carriageway

Look across it with the sun shining in the corner

Then it was getting towards Plympton and in a way it was very quiet on the roads but also it felt more like I was lost, but just sticking to the route and it eventually went to a field of walkers before a left and right then by an industrial estate which then the path lead to get to Saltram, which felt really calm and I could feel it going that bit easier and still time for me to get the things page in.

The view looking towards the moors

The sun is shining over the city

Then it was more quiet parts and we got to the City, I parked up past various fences and just nearby. Then once locked to a ring, it was time to get some bits on B&M due to the thirst quench. I was having to rush a bit more but ended up going for a Bottle of Schewps and a pack of Jelly belly lollipops for £1.90 as the total.

The view as I parked up

Looking at the empty plaza

£1.00 for Schewps and £0.90 for Jelly Belly freeze Pops

Then it was time to finally pay cash in, which held like 10 envelopes and took about 30 minutes; finally, a bulk of the money from work was paid in. Whcuh then it was 20 past, time for me to unchain the bike, then cycle my way past fences and in a maze of construction, to then get the train, which had like a few people getting on. Then it was time the train left, and then a relaxing bit of email checking up to go home with. It felt peaceful for sure, and the table seats are just amazing. Eventually, I got home by about 10:15 or so, which was the cycle up the hill before finally getting home to get things tidied up.

The red sky as the bridge was crossed

The station in the night sky

Then that quick cycle before getting home was not too tough, but it felt nice, and once I got home, changed, and it was then a nice microwave meal with added extras like the honey poppers and the like.

The leftovers from Chicken in black bean, Ham, Honey poppers, Bagel, Coronation Chicken, egg fried rice and more.

Then that was it, normal life resumed, and then it was time to catch catchup on work and life that way. Enjoy it, and even though this was typed up on my 16th Twiterversary/Xversary, it will be as it goes and hopefully, finding the time this month to finish the life of what's happened in the past 7 months.

Take care
