Tavistock Goose Fair 2024 - A Soaking Night Before

So it's that time of year again and life has been intensen in both aspects with even something new coming up after finally catching up on socials for a month done to upload 6 months almost worth of my life in that overdue sense of fashion,

But this is the start of another year and things tend not to change but also change for the worse. So we have to begin with another way to get things done and taking that control is going to be a toughie, but time to explore and enjoy what might be another tough year for many.

Monday hectic

So it's always the week of goose fair the work gets busiest, even with posters outside work and admin to prepare for but the Monday was actually one of those 2 visits that turned into 5 and then one cancelled since it going too late. Especially as cycling in the pouring rain which in itself was just appalling but what comes earlier makes dry at night for the others.  Then coming home to a fry up and adding rice and the usual on top was a nice touch.

From Monday night. Egg fried rice, bacon, mushrooms, fried egg, fried bread, mayo, special k , salad  and biscuits spread

But then after eating that it was time to get the laptop fixed since recently it had been taking ages to look up the render menu which in itself is ok but the timings of tnhifnfs is going to be an nightmare hectic and that in itself is not good actually, so I was dreading a reinstall of open core so to speak, but then the plot thickens in a bad sense.

It turns out the laptop would not charge, ok the battery did die the night before but not accepting a charge was a bit of a ohhhhhhh moment, then investigating which a screw got stuck with a washer and that was on the charging board which after it was then a capacitor near the CPU fell off, that's going to end up a dead board, so that makes it completely***** for when I needed to, so taking the ram and storage out, it was midnight and time to pack the pc up in a Primark bag ready to go as well as.

  • Glass
  • Gfuel
  • Clothes
  • Mouse
  • Cables
  • Hard drives
  • Drink

Which then it was coming up to 1am before crashing out to the  a Tuesday morning rush, which then for me would for the start of 2 days of little sleep and content to create, since i almost forgot I had a cameo to film, well before the deadline of the end of wednesday which using the vlog as a opportunity to do it was not bad an idea too.  But then it was crashing out.

Tuesday

The Morning commute and rush

Well it was the morning, I was woke up about 6:30 am with parents saying they are off to babysit the sister's son, which meant i had some bit of free time to prepare, but what do i do, i end up the usual f a p over something special soon to announce and also then leave it until the last 15 minutes to wake up and shave before packing my things and getting the bus to Work.

I manged to rush and then left at 08:06 which to my suprise, I ran down the road and just as i got to the main road, the bus was just coming onto the main road, which some people were getting on the stop, so I ran with the rucksack of clothes and my primark bag then got in and paid the £2 for a single, which then it started to clear up as I got to spar. Then i got off and walked my way to work. Which then I got a bit of a glimpse of what will be seen this year.

The View of the town and peek at some rides.

Then I walked my way into work and started to get a bit tidied up which i was bracing for a hectic day but also was making sure I was prepared for getting ready for how tonight would go.

Work

To be fair work was actually quite quiet, sure some phone calls here and there and mostly stock to book in which was overdue and some more admin here and there, especially as i was meant to get some time to sort out the desktop to prepare myself for editing some I don't cain it too much overnight,  But time passed, friends gave me cake and a donut and then it was nearly the end of the day of work by 5, but there was one last ipad setup to sort out, so that was me being late to leave for a visit which will be a project for the next week after.

Eventually it was the visit and that was a nice walk up the road to get there, since the roads were closed at 5:30pm and it was then able to sort out the road to navigate, since the one way system was in place which in its  sight was a good way to not get run over but in for other people, a nightmare indeed.
But after discussing bits, it was 6:20 and time to make my way to the fair.

The Exploring

The Car Park

So as i got there, the crowds were not as much, even with the twister and hookaduck in the bus station. Then as it was coming to the car park by the wharf, it was empty with no rides as the way the past things do go. But then turning to the left and freakout was in the main area this time, which if its what happened last year will be for only 1 day. But then it was time to explore, terminator was not up and running yet, the dodgems were crowded with the  usual crowds, families were enjoying the smaller rides of the raceoraama and younger rides and the ghost train was more popular this year too.

The Twister at the bus station

Over the falls in clear view

The Waltzer and the clear gap in the dark clouds

Then it was coming to Crazy Frog and Thriller Express this time, which works on this part of the car park, but not as many food stalls/vans this time around to be fair which makes some sense to it, but still there was plenty of space to get by and move about for sure on. But then it was time to exit the car park back the way i came in to explorer the rest of the road/strip.

The Strip of Stalls

So, I then get the chance to make my way left and then it was going to explore, there were loads of gaps on my way up for stalls there have not year been placed up, but it was going to fill soon enough by the end of the night. But a lot more street food was to approach this time. Which might be more tempting when i get to explore during the day.

The Selfie as i was looking back down the street

The Foood stalls on the way to the statue

As it was then coming towards the alexandrea centre for the proper food court, it was only 3 stalls there, one thai food stall and also the bar and carvery setup already, so there will be lots more to look at when it comes to the day.

The food court empty

Then it was starting to head towards the end which was more empty with stalls to yet arrive overnight for sure. But then with council everywhere, things were not too bad on going to plan from the feeling it can be. Which soon it was time to make my way back to get to explore again.

The stalls looking back

The way to the Square

Then it was walking back and it was actually getting very dimpsy to dark at this point, the rain was starting to tipple a bit so not heave it down but not a sprinkle either, that was putting a dampen on it. But the clouds did make it more brighter for the rides for sure, The crowds were less as the rain was coming in though.

The Clouds and Over the Falls

Now lets do it on night mode

Terminator in full glow

Then after this was to go on the river path way back to the square to then explorer what was around that with most of the stalls all parked up and Blaze is the highlight of the fairground on the square this year which only was not too far in the uk as well.

The ending

After this, it was a cameo to film and one last look at the fairground before it was 7:20 and i decided to make my way back to the shop, but the rain was just about holding off, but then it was to explore co-op which i was not going to lie, feeling a bit hungry but wanting to save up money for this coming event and other events soon in this moth to go. Co-op had some bits in there but not much to enjoy on offer, which then I made my way back and it was time to get going to get some overdue work done like stock to book in from releases the day before like Silent Hill 2 and until Dawn/.

Which then by about 10:30pm i was able to start the editing for the cameo and vlog and finished the vlog about 6am minus a couple of on and off breaks like a neighbour needing to call an ambulance at 4am in the actually morning and they did not leave until just before 6am i stg.

When then it leads to the Day of the fair, which i'll see you soon for that

A weekend in july - Part 2 : The Funeral

So Monday 31st July is the day, of the passing of my granddad and the official Goodbye ceremony wise, which is a contrast to the day out before and this will be a tough day.

The Morning:

So it was another morning, I managed to wake up at about 9:15 after a peachy fap, which to be fair the ease of pressure was needed for what was going to be faced today.  I woke up and it was time to get the teeth cleaned AND CLEAN UP since it was having to make sure the suit was not stained or anything at all, like that I did not want to mess up.  So I was mostly topless or with the hoodie to then get the part ready and also check on emails. But it was soon time to get the changeover and then get ready. Plus a smoothie to enjoy and gulp down for some healthy parts.

The watch from Grandad

A cleaner look at the selfie

So it was ending at 9:35 and we started to head to drive off to Nan's old house (Since legally the passing means that Nan owns it now) which was a wet journey and talking about small bits and the hope that Nan would take it nicely without too sadness which we can find out.

So eventually we got there about the 10 am mark at the place, my sister and her husband were there, and the stray cat decided to make an appearance. Then it was that sign of seeing the neighbours out and he was jaw dropped on how impressive and smart we all looked.

We talked about the afternoon after the sister left which included the missed parts from the aquarium to the chance and purchase of the e-bike in Evans.  More talking ensures and a few phone calls later, the limousine and the horse drove up, tears were starting to drop from people's eyes and it was a beautiful sight of tribute,  the silver horse with the light shade of marble.

But it was then getting into the limo and was to the backside when another car turned up which changed plan and that meant for me to sit in the front seat of the limo, but the clear view at the back of the coffin.

In front of the limo and looking at the herse

The parade was solemn and that respect felt at the same time, with the bearer. But we then got to the united reform church which was always somewhere I passed but never walked into. The limo parked outside and the bearers faced to pick up and carry the coffin on the wheel to the inside of the church, there was no rush and it was time for all of us. We then walked in and took seats in the front row and the ceremony began.

The hymns were sung and then time for the first lot of speeches which was the eulogy which was a beautiful storey about my grandad and the things he had to dine including the stories that he never spoken to me about either. A speech about the scout or skip that returned home is a nice one, but again I'm not the scout or cub type of person. Then it lead to the memories from my sister and my own which ill never forget and will be quoted below which will be different than what was said due to editing and revisions that were given.

As many will hear today, Grandad was a great person, kind of heart and always very much there to help and teach many skills which some I’ve kept with me and even is reminded in my daily life more than many would think.

There have been times when he has been there to pick me up in various ways, Like playing as giant when me and sister slept over in the house in Bere alston, to when it was himself picking up both me and Emma from school to eventually just me, with walking our dog Zack (a toy poodle) along the canal path. The course of nature always finds its place from the swooping of the kingfisher to Zack walking himself back to the car. To then get home to see Nan and the sausage roll or pasty from their local premier as a treat.

Even when age progresses, the traditions stayed the same with me helping him out with his iPad and laptop, sometimes from downloading organ programs, sometimes to explore other sites, the after nan cooking a meal and watching the 1pm news, he was walking me back to the bus stop so i could get that 1:50pm bus home to then walk the dog after, back when I had days off in the week.

Even one memory of driving up with my sister to have her private medical appointment before her life on cruise ships in Dorset somewhere was still something special, even the   American diner before i didn’t see my sister until years later from her journey on Cruise ships and my life came into its own from freedom after completing City College.

But the main memories will always been the caravan park at Dinham farm, which had some lovely Cornish views, all of us did outings such as Padstow crazy golf, crabbing at rock on some evenings and even the days out to Trelawny garden centre including the train on the roof and the Roast in the restaurant, to the now in administration shire adventure park. Even some mornings to get the paper at another holiday park shop, Polzeath in the evenings for some food and views too.

Most of the skills of my tech life have been guided by his keen open mind, from the callsign he used to use for amateur radio to helping me on the electronics course in Tavistock College for GCSE, Going up to the shed to listen to him play his organ or use his Compaq computer. I will always be proud of what Grandad has done for me, even as years passed and restrictions in the start of this decade and as he was there for us, we were there for him, even in the times when things were starting to deteriorate and being there he always said “Thank you for what you have done”.

Then it leads to a message from the referred, it was very and I mean very Catholic orientated. The story with Jesus and the trust in him. In a plain way of heaven being love a house with a room big enough of what your desires, happiness was a bit far fetched, but he did sort of dispel the rumour and what stereotypical heaven is like which is a fair comment. Then it was to be the chance next to hear the poem that behind the scenes, was just copied from Etsy in a way but like it was still an emotional one, buy nan it's not sunk in from the events of the past 3 weeks due to her dementia.

It then leads to another hymn to sing of amazing grace which leads to this other service of commendation and message before we start to have the last part of the soundtrack to one of Grandad's favourite films, Chitty Chitty bang bang.

Then it was the slow walk out behind the coffin, to then get back to the limo and wait for the chance to walk to the graveyard for the burial site. But instead, I had to sort out to pay an HP bill from family events to make it 300 pages limit a month in the case. But that led to a rush to go to the post office to pay £40 which was done but then I got asked where I was and once it was paid in, I walked to the limo and back to the front and then it was the parade up.

This was nice to hear some of the compliments and a fair amount of people were there, but this section next was a very private affair. We then got up to the graveyard. This was probably the saddest part of the chapter on this day which was the rain started to come in and it was actually to watch the burial and lat the final rose before the goodbye was done and in a way, it was the official chapter family passing here and there. We and the close family paid the respect and then we walked to the limo which was the final part of the funeral package. Nan lay a rose but she didnt sink on one that was a flow next to her husband.

The beareres and the coffin being laid to rest

Then it was to get to the wake, which was a shorter limo journey and this was to see what comes up since the wake was the final part of this service. We parked up right outside and then walked in, but I went toilet then checked my phone,  not much in messages but then it was time to walk in and see the tables were packed, not as busy as the service itself and finding out later on how some people were not arriving, but it was good to see where it starts.

The outside of the bowling club

So it was bouncing around on who goes where and people were chatting in their tables and groups too.  But I headed to the quiet bottom, and one of the chaps that organised the wake asked if I had the photos on the stick since Powerpoints don't work on the TV and it was a rush to get them cropped so that didnt happen. But it was then to look at some of the art books and telling my sister's hubby some of the places he painted and portraits he did, but then it was time to see the food unwrap and look at what to go for.

The food choices were limited since it was the opportunity to eat the sandwiches that had butter in all of them so I could not eat those, and the quiches had cheese in them so could not have either. It was pretty much the sausage rolls and pasties and a couple of wraps too.

The lunch from the wake

But most of the afternoon was repeating things and looking around the groups, chatting to some here and there and then going outside to reflect on what happened and realising this is a chapter of my life being written, one ending and yet not another one going. Time passed on and it was time to say goodbye to Nan, which she was leaving at one, and time was feeling slower, but talking to 2 customers that were there, plu the distant cousins were talking here and there, sister's baby bump grabbed most of the talk in the groups for sure, but thats changing with induction on Wednesday.

Eventually, it was leaving towards the 2 pm mark and time to pack the things up, the books, the scout berry and cloth, plus the memories and even the donation box to TASS memory cafe, which there were alot of leftovers and the weather was starting to clear up. After speaking to more of Grandad's brother's sons with my mum, it was the final packing up and leaving, food in the car and boxes then we drove back home for more chatter and cake that was left.

a sombre selfie

Then it was back to checking the internet at home and a nice walk on a kit hill in the wind, which as fucking luck goes, work customers ring me and this was going to be the rest of the day like it ended up 4 emails coming n one day so thats going to pus things for it all and the life. But then it was a nice noodle for tea since the grazing Buffet food for most of the afternoon filled me partly up.

The noodles and the things extras to dip them in

But that was my weekend, with as depressing as last year and the unknown and worries last year have become realised and a common task (running home or having to wait around for lifts after work) and it is just getting used to them and losing the focus as well as in a way with what this girl on FB dating said about "I'm surprised at your age about questioning these things" when it comes to sex and relationships (NOT gender or sexual identity, that is still semi-clear). But enjoy this month and a new post and vlog will come soon from this.

The Grey Carnival around the world (Tavistock Carnival 2018)

Its the carnival season again and with the world of summer approaching. 9 Years of twitter caught up and also work has a costume day to celebrate #tavicelebrityhunt which actually hardly went very well in terms of online but meh. But with the theme of "countries around the world" (very similar to the Olympic theme back in 2016). it was going to have something fun to say the least....

The vlog is below:

The Working as Laurel.

Well there is a competition on in work for the annual summer event, take selfies with celebrity cardboard cut outs, thats cool and something new, then show off the selfies for a chance to win prizes. Nice, but setting that up actually was easy in the end. But it was the costume to order, now i really should of followed my WB rep's advice and go as mr incredible since i'm doing a selfie competition with a chance to win a copy of the game, well either way i've lost money doing that so fine when it comes to august. But work has been just busy in slight bursts. But i did take a selfie before leaving for work today anyway, it was a nice costume. Quite expensive at £30 ish from Joker's Masquerade. turns out i was running with my phone and wallet in my hat too.

The selfie

I got to work about 9:10 and customers were al;ready waiting, that teaches me for fapping in the mornings daily to keep me feeling happy eh, but then it was a massive tidy up and that was a stressful task and even made me overcharge and then refunded half of that overcharge, but printer backs are not easy to see. But then the day went on, and eventually it was 4:30 and time for me to get back home to prepare whats been going on, I was meant to finish the catchup blogpost and running with things nearly falling out is just a accident waiting to happen but didn't.

Leaving work and seeing the carnival fairgound

The evening to procession.

Well it was nearly 6:30 and i decided to make my way down there, since I would only find somewhere to sit and then get back to getting this up afterwards, since well, not much is down in Tavi for me now, like meh. But hey, no videos would be done if i didn't do this. not this blogpost. But a shower and jeans to put on before getting down there for 6:45 would do it. since down road from 6:30 is still a good 15 minutes away walking time.

The mini sub of an artic bar, mayo and ham.
I ran down in tight jeans, which actually i didn't take too long, like 11 minutes by the time i got to the point when a mini bus was parked in the middle of the road and that was then full of crowds waiting to see the procession which was actually quite near us already. I found a place on the road and then sat and watched it go by, lucky i bought the power bank with me since it needed it but from 95 down to 20 in under and hour is NOT GOOD.

The procession starts #throughglass

Lets start

blurred martial arts

More things

By but about 7:20 it was over, the last van was passing by, people were just moving back into the town, pretty quickly i might add, but there was a few bits of floats that were the same, not sure how starwars related to countries of the world, same with high fiving deadpool but there were some that stuck to the theme, but most overlapped. Thats a bit of a shame really. But hey, its all done now and after exploring the fair and seeing overpriced slushies, it was time to head back home.

The fairground of how blank it looks

More sights around

But I then ran back and there was some hen party with the bus at the bus station, right past a bus that was leaving for the end of the day to park it up, well it was a bit of a odd one, but the weather cleared up for it to be honest. But then it was time to gulp 3 pints of squash with ice and get this up, i didn't actually sleep until 2am but at least the video is up.

Now i'm working for 6 days a week (if business partner is struggling to cover) then its gonig to be a stressful time to get videos and posts up and I will try my best, besides we have the Fireworks in August, we have maybe a day out or 2 and Team spectra is in limbo for the momento too.

all the best
